Understanding the User

User Research
User Research
The user research conducted was split up into two sections: Secondary and Primary research.
-
Secondary research consisted of a competitive audit across 4 different wedding planning virtual platforms.
-
Primary research was based on interviews across 5 participants.
Pain Points
1
Cost & Capacity

Across the interviews and competitor audit - understanding the cost of venues and how many guests they can hold is the most important for the users/participants.
2
Services Offered

From the interviews - the participants unanimously discussed how they needed to understand what services and amenities the venue had to offer within or in addition to the rate quoted.
3
Guest Entertainment

It was important for the participants to know that they could identify venues that were affiliated with or in proximity to hotels for the guests to stay at and activities that their guests could do locally outside of the wedding.
4
Comparing Places

From the competitor audit - I saw how some of the other platforms offered a comparison, and others offered blogs. When combining that with the answers from the interviews - being able to see what is available in a simple way to compare seemed most

Design Commencement

Wireframes
Being my first project: I started with drawing out the wireframes on paper that I then transitioned into digital. After a few iterations, it was ready for its first Low Fidelity usability study

Evolving to Digital Wireframes

Low Fidelity Prototype
Top is the screenshot, below is the embedded video showing the navigation itself. The low-fi prototype was mainly focused around the navigation, usability, intuitive interaction/flow.

Low Fi Proto Video
After developing insights from user testing - this is the final low fidelity iteration flow before I head into the high fidelity mock ups and prototyping.

Refine the Design

Hi Fidelity Mock Ups + Protoype
You will see mock-ups before & after that represent how the refinement started to where it ended based on user feedback from usability studies.
Mock Ups - Before & After: Insights to Iterate from Usability Studies
-
Based on usability testing feedback below, I was able to make helpful changes to the designs.
-
Very busy coloring & shadows
-
Overlay nav menu distracting
-
Too close to edge of screen - felt cut off
-
Footer Nav menu hard to understand
-
Need more cues for CTA’s

Below illustrates the 6 rounds of changes to get to the right design and flow of information.
